Social Tennis
Organised social tennis takes place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 16h00 and Saturday afternoons from 14h00. During this time no private games are permitted as the objective is to encourage members to meet and play with other members of the club. Balls are provided and the bar is open during this time. Visitors are welcome (R80)
The courts are generally used as follows:
- Ladies Morning League – Tuesdays and Thursdays between 08H00 to 13H00.
- The Men’s Veterans section (for over 50) – Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 13h00 until 16h30
- Morning social – Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 08H00 to 12H00.

Junior Social Tennis
Junior Social Tennis is held every Saturday morning, from 9am to 12pm on courts C and D. The sessions are open to young players, up to age 13, using orange, green dot, or normal balls. We do our best to match players with others of a similar skill level, although each Junior Social will naturally include a mix of ages and abilities.
Wendy Scheeprs oversees the sessions, and parents of participants are encouraged to volunteer and help out when possible. Coaches are not usually present during Junior Social Tennis, but anyone interested in coaching at the club can find more information about the FHTC coaching team here.
Saturday Junior Social Tennis is free for FHTC junior members. Visitors are also welcome at a cost of R50 per Saturday, payable using the SnapScan code on the clubhouse door or directly to Jeff Lewis in the clubhouse.
League Tennis
Ladies Morning League
Meets every Tuesday and Thursday mornings (08H00 to 13H00) throughout the year. During league season, league matches are played Thursday mornings from September through to early November and also from late February to early April.
Cape Town Tennis League
(Singles / Doubles / Mixed, dependent on league season)
Matches are played on Saturday afternoons from 1pm. There are two league seasons: generally from late August through to mid November, and the other from late February to early April.
General
Members or visitors who play during the arranged social times are expected to fit in with the group arrangements at the time. Private social play can be arranged at other times depending on the availability of courts. Members and visitors must provide their own balls when organising private games.
Junior & Student members are welcome to join in with general social play on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons. Bookings can also be made outside of these times.
League Tennis normally takes place from February to April and August to November. During this time the courts are reserved for league practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16h00 and for league matches on Saturday afternoons from 13h00. Social play continues as normal but allowances are made to make sure the league players get enough practice in.
