Guitar Get-Together at Fish Hoek Tennis Club

-

Fish Hoek Tennis Club will be making a different kind of racket this Sunday, 5 July, at 2:30pm, when members gather at the clubhouse for a relaxed Guitar Get-Together.

Organized by Willie van Schoor, the afternoon is open to guitarists, singers, percussionists, spectators, and anyone keen to join in the fun. The idea is simple: learn from one another, make some noise, and see if everyone can pull together for a group version of Sweet Virginiaby The Rolling Stones. The song only needs four chords: A, C, D, and G, so players of all levels are welcome (see Chords & Lyrics below).

Willie has also put out a call for any more experienced guitarists who might be able to help with a finger-style version of John Mellencamp’s I Saw You First.”

Peter Schutte will be bringing his portable PA and microphones, just in case there is some next-generation singing talent lurking around the club.

The bar will be open, and there may even be chips if Jeff can be persuaded. Bring a guitar, bring your voice, bring a cardboard box for percussion, or just come along to watch and enjoy the chaos!
